What the Keynote will be about:

In today’s connected world, many people live across borders linguistically, socially, and digitally. Yet research and policy on digital participation still often assume a nationally bounded citizen. In her keynote, Dr. Çiğdem Bozdağ argues for rethinking digital inclusion through a transnational lens. She will show how everyday cross-border media practices challenge “methodological nationalism” and what this means for future research, policy, and on-the-ground interventions.

About the speaker:

Dr. Bozdağ is an Associate Professor at the University of Groningen and principal investigator of the NWO Vidi project DigiMig (2024–2028), focusing on digital inclusion and migration in families, policy, and education. Previously, she led the INCLUDED project at the University of Bremen, and held academic roles at Kadir Has University and the Istanbul Policy Center. Her work spans media and migration, digital literacy, and media education.
