Dr. Hamidi studied communication and media studies and german as a foreign language at the University of Leipzig. His master’s thesis dealt with the development cooperation of international media organisations.
He was awarded the DAAD Prize 2006 for this work and his social commitment. He completed his doctorate at the university in 2013. From 2010 to 2013, he was a doctoral fellow of the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLLF). From 2015 to 2018, he coordinated the project “Professionalisation of Academic Journalism Training in Afghanistan” (Funded by VW-Foundation) at Leipzig University. Since 2019, he has headed the Centre Entwicklungskommunikation – Communication for Social Change (EC4SC) at Leipzig University. He has published two books and several papers on the media and public in Afghanistan.
