We are excited to announce that our seminar at Leipzig University has started in April 2024. Focusing on a topic and context that has remained largely unexplored in German communication studies: media and public spheres in fragile states, using Afghanistan as a primary case study. Our aim is to observe the development of participatory media and communication structures within fragile state and social structures.
Through comprehensive analysis and empirical research, we seek to gain insights into how individuals in such environments raise their voices, share information, and participate in public discourse. Specifically, we aim to understand the role of media in promoting participation, dialogue, and social change in fragile states like Afghanistan.
Our seminar not only provides the opportunity to explore previously understudied topics in German communication studies but also allows our scholars to gain valuable experience in the German education system.
